ACADEMIC SUMMARY, THOMAS D. PEARSON
Thomas D. Pearson is Associate Professor of Philosophy at The University of Texas-Pan American. He also serves as Co-Director of the Pan American Collaboration on Ethics in the Professions (PACE), as well as administrative coordinator for the Religious Studies Minor in the Philosophy program. In 2005, Dr. Pearson was appointed Visiting Scholar at the Center for the Study of Ethics and Human Values at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. His research interests are focused on religious studies, philosophy of religion, Islam and Christian-Muslim interfaith dialogue, and issues in religion and ethics.
He has published extensive works on the relation of religious faith and ethics in the work of Alasdair MacIntyre, the natural law tradition in religious ethics, the role of conscience in moral decision-making, the ethics of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, the possibility of interfaith dialogue in the Gülen movement within Islam, and the impact of emerging technologies on religious thought and practice.
